Autumn pleasures
A list of art to consume, questions, love for the spooky
Fall is here; I feel it in my bones. It's a brisk 61 degrees, and it will likely storm today. This type of weather rejuvenates me. It makes me feel alive. Do you feel the same?
I love the act of changing activities and movements with the seasons. I have been asking online what kind of art people like to consume in the fall, and I hope you’ll leave your suggestions below.
Let me go first.
Right now, I am watching A Discovery of Witches on Netflix. I had previously watched season one and part of season two, but I am fully invested now. I have been a big fan of Matthew Goode and Theresa Palmer for years now. I haven't read the books, but perhaps I should. Have you?
I’m in my fantasy era regarding reading—or, rather, I should say I have returned to it. Currently, on the ebook front, I am reading Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent. I am always stunned and swept away by her writing. She inspires a good envy in me.
I just finished an incredible novel on audio for my local book club. The September House is a stunning take on...well, I can’t say without giving the book away. But please, I urge you to read this. I recommend the audio because the narrator blew this one away.
I haven't started to watch seasonal movies, but I am open to suggestions. I think Practical Magic will be first on my list. I also want to get a head start on watching horror movies. In years past, I have found myself stunned that it is mid-October, and I haven't watched any of my favorites. I grew up watching Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween movies. I want to watch the classics and any new suggestions you have. I love eerie psychological horrors. I am okay with violence, as long as we do not go into the body horror territory (Hostel, Saw movies, etc.)
Next on my audiobook list is The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave. I admit, once I saw that Julia Whelan narrated it, I was sold.
The next poetry book I want to read is Instant Winner by Carrie Fountain.
What are you loving?

My favorite fall movies are:
The Worst Witch (with Fairuza Balk)
Hocus Pocus
The Halloween Tree (it's a cartoon adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel, and I LOOOOOOOVE it so so much)
Drag Me to Hell
