we made our way
through
the new
& born again
& lush
& emerald
Ozark woods
the sound of
the river meeting
the lake was our guide
the breeze carried my
scent forward
& around
& back to you
where you smiled
& made silly
comments about
the locals &
the muddy brown water
I laughed
your words
off & tried to
keep steady,
the rocks
& your
affections
begged me
to tumble
down
down
down
into the water
& into
your gravity
again
